A major, big-budget film has brought star power to our shores and Pure Locations has a whole list of film-ready locations on the Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast recently played host to the Australian premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and a long list of Hollywood A-listers. The Oscar- Award winning director walked the red carpet alongside the cast which included major Hollywood names like Tom Hanks and Austin Butler. The film – which recently garnered international attention at the Cannes Film Festival – was filmed and produced entirely on the Gold Coast.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who also attended this star-studded event, talked to Australian media about her plans for the film industry on the Gold Coast.
“It says volumes about Queensland and what Queensland can do we now have Hollywood here on the Gold Coast,” she said.
“I want to have a permanent film industry here on the Gold Coast for Queensland. And that’s Queensland jobs … that’s what it’s all about,” she said.
Pure Locations Director Michelle McCormac said the prospect of more big-budget productions on the Gold Coast is exciting and welcome news for her location agency.
“Pure Locations has been providing phenomenal locations for major TV shows for years and we would love to see our locations on the silver screen,” she said.
“As the pandemic shut down the world, many overseas productions chose to move filming to Australia purely because there were far fewer options for them.
“It actually provided Australia with this opportunity where we could show the world that we are not only a viable location for big-budget filming but a desirable one. “
